Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used to treat various medical conditions in both humans and animals for over 3,000 years. At Allen Equine we are pleased to offer equine acupuncture to our clients as a treatment option for several conditions including musculoskeletal disorders, back pain, and to minimize the side effects of chemotherapy.

As stated above, we typically offer acupuncture as a complementary treatment option and is used in conjunction with other treatment options such as rest and medication.

Our veterinarian acupuncturist will perform a full examination and review your horse’s medical records and symptoms before recommending treatment. A diagnostic acupoint exam is then conducted to identify particular acupoints that may be the source of pain or distress.

Radiology

Here at Allen Equine, we are proud to offer equine digital radiology.

Our hospital is dedicated to staying up to date with the newest advances in veterinary medicine. We strive to diagnose and treat your horse the easiest way possible.

For this reason, we use digital radiology, which is the best way to get quality x-rays quickly and efficiently. Your horse’s digital images are ready almost instantly for us to view. Also, instead of taking film after film to adjust the settings, we can simply adjust the contrast on the computer. This means that we can take fewer films and not expose your horse to as much radiation.

Digital x-rays are great for diagnosing lameness in horses. We can quickly and efficiently diagnose your horse, whether he or she is suffering from laminitis, a broken bone, or anything else.

Don’t hesitate to contact us at (305) 793-3354 if you have any questions about digital x-rays or would like to schedule a consultation for your horse.

Dynamic and Static Video Endoscopy

Here at Allen Equine, we are proud to offer endoscopy services for our patients.

We are constantly working hard to give our patients the very best care veterinary medicine has to offer. We use the latest equipment and offer our patients new and exciting ways to diagnose and treat problems.

For this reason, we are really proud to offer endoscopy services. An endoscope is a small, flexible tube that we are able to insert into your horse’s body to help us diagnose and treat various issues. There is a camera on the end, which allows us to view inner parts of your horse in ways that we never could before. We are even able to take video so that we can watch it and keep it to monitor a patient’s condition.

The most common thing we use endoscopy for is monitoring a patient’s upper respiratory tract. We can look at the nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, lungs, and much more. We also use it commonly to investigate stomach issues and can also use it to examine the uterus, urethra, bladder, cervix, and much more.

Endoscopy is used to diagnose and monitor the treatment of many diseases and problems including laryngeal hemiplegia, pharyngitis, sinusitis, infections, choke, ulcers, uterine infections, cysts, foreign bodies, and much more.

Don’t hesitate to contact us at (305) 793-3354 if you have any questions about endoscopy or would like to schedule a consult.
